WHAT IS NÜWA?
Nüwa Hanfu is named after the Chinese goddess of creation: Nüwa 女娲/女媧.
She is credited with creating humanity and repairing the Pillar of Heaven.
As creator of mankind, she molded humans individually by hand with clay. She is in many pieces of literature and art across China, and still remains an important figure in Chinese culture today.
ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm ChuYan 楚嫣, the owner of Nüwa Hanfu shop.
My love for hanfu started last year in 2021. As a child, I was fascinated by the traditional clothing of Japan and Korea, but for some reason it never crossed my mind to look into the traditional clothing of my own Han ethnicity! Like other Chinese diaspora, for the longest time I thought Chinese clothing was just Qipao. But thanks to the hanfu revival, I now know there is an entire beautiful history of Chinese clothing that most of the world still doesn't recognize! Now I've made it my life's mission to share the beauty of hanfu and Chinese culture with the Western world and other Chinese diaspora.
